Engineering Practice

Physics First.
Then Fabrication.

We are an independent senior PCB layout engineering consultancy founded on a simple truth: schematic nets are not abstract lines — they are physical transmission lines subject to electromagnetic fields, parasitic inductance, and real-world manufacturing limits.

Led by Abdul Rehman from Karachi, Pakistan, PCB Routing handles critical layouts for hardware startups, electronics laboratories, and industrial OEMs across North America, Europe, and Asia. When your hardware cannot afford a re-spin, we route the copper right the first time.

The Background

A decade at the bench and CAD station.

Abdul Rehman earned his engineering degree in Electronics Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan’s premier institution for rigorous electrical and hardware design. Over the past decade, his career has bridged high-frequency digital design, analog precision circuits, RF transceiver matching, and high-current power switching.

Early in his career, he saw how often engineering teams separate schematic capture from physical layout reality. Teams would craft clean microcontroller logic or silicon architectures, only to watch prototypes fail in testing due to return path discontinuities, high via inductance, or unmanufacturable board aspect ratios.

Auto-routers connect nets. Engineers design transmission lines. The distinction between the two is the difference between a prototype that passes compliance testing on Day 1 and one that ends up in the scrap bin. Abdul Rehman — Founder, PCB Routing

PCB Routing was established to close this gap. We partner directly with engineering leaders, startups, and hardware teams as an embedded layout specialist. We don’t simply “connect pins”; we question pinouts that induce signal crossovers, minimize decoupling loop areas, and model exact transmission line dielectric stacks before laying copper.

To date, Abdul has engineered over 150+ designs successfully fabricated across JLCPCB, PCBWay, Eurocircuits, and North American fab houses. Clients range from robotics startups in Canada and medical monitoring devices in the US, to industrial automation platforms in Germany and the UK.

Engineering Methodology

The rules we route by.

Four core principles govern every stackup, placement decision, and trace routing on your hardware.

01 / RETURN PATHS

Signals follow loops, not traces.

High-speed return currents travel along the path of lowest inductance directly beneath the signal trace on the reference plane. We never let critical traces cross plane splits, voids, or broken copper references, preventing EMI issues before boards reach the RF chamber.

Target Metric < 50ps Phase Skew
02 / STACKUP INTEGRITY

Dielectric modeling from minute one.

We do not route using generic 50-ohm default widths. We coordinate with your specific fabricator’s actual prepreg thickness, copper foil roughness, and core material (FR-4, Rogers 4350B, or Isola) to calculate exact trace geometry using field solvers.

Tolerance Target ± 7% Controlled Impedance
03 / FABRICATION REALISM

DFM is baked into the layout, not an afterthought.

A layout that causes solder bridging, component tombstoning on 0201s, or aspect ratio plating failures is a defective design. We construct thermal reliefs, solder dam minimums, and teardropped vias according to IPC Class 2/3 rules.

Manufacturability Zero DRC Holdbacks
04 / COMPLETE TRANSPARENCY

You own clean, native source files.

No vendor lock-in. We hand over meticulously organized native EDA design databases (Altium, KiCad, or Allegro) with fully configured design rules, verified component footprints, accurate 3D STEP bodies, and turnkey production documentation.

CAD Environments & Verification

Native workflows matching your stack.

We work inside the tool your internal engineering team already uses. Whether your project demands agile KiCad 8 workflows, Altium 365 collaborative version control, or Cadence Allegro constraint-driven high-speed routing, our deliverables integrate directly into your repository.

Every handoff package undergoes schematic-to-layout cross-probing, electrical rule checks (ERC), design rule checks (DRC), and 3D enclosure collision modeling before release.

Global Collaboration

How we work with distributed teams.

Hardware engineering across time zones with direct accountability and zero friction.

1. Schematic & Spec Audit

You provide the schematic and mechanical enclosure limits. We review component logic, pin assignments, and stackup constraints before placing a single pad.

2. Placement & Review

We model critical high-speed routing channels, thermal paths, and connector ergonomics. You review and sign off on placement before traces are laid down.

3. Turnkey Package Release

You receive native CAD files, Gerber RS-274X/X2, NC drills, IPC-D-356 netlists, pick-and-place centroids, and exact sourcing BOMs ready for instant assembly.

Have an unrouted schematic?

Send over your netlist, mechanical constraints, and target fabricator. Abdul will personally review your stackup and provide a clear timeline and quote.
