Custom Mobile Phone (Orange Pi CM4)
Full phone design: schematic, four PCBs, SIM, camera, USB-C and battery charging.
The brief
A phone is not one circuit. It is a compute module that generates its own heat, a display that needs a specific power sequence, audio that needs clean rails, and a battery that has to be charged safely — all on one carrier small enough to hold.
The Orange Pi Compute Module 4 is the specific difficulty: it is a module meant to be carried by someone else’s board, so everything around it — power, display, camera, audio, storage — has to be designed here.
What we did
A compact carrier built around the Orange Pi Compute Module 4. It carries the display and camera connections, audio, the user buttons, a rechargeable battery with charge control, and USB – everything the module expects from the board that hosts it.
